Winter is coming in TARA…
We bring you plenty of news! In 2017, you will discover TARA new visual identity with a new logo, we will ask your opinion on it soon through our facebook page.
Vinay’s new heart, Soni’s fairy-fingers and Sunil’s sharp hearing are only a few examples of the latest. The renovations, which required finishing touches are now complete, just like the countless October festivals, warmly celebrated in TARA. Children are studious and think about their future career already, while a few newcomers joined TARA Girls and TARA Tots and share their peer’s euphoria of an upcoming Christmas…

The beginning of this quarter was indeed marked with several important medical interventions:

The percutaneous valve replacement of Vinay, carried out for the first time in North India, allowed him to regain a brand new heart and to approach his new life in Muskaan with serenity. Muskaan is an association in Delhi which takes care of the vocational training and housing of young adults with special needs, where Vinay currently spends half of his time when he is not in TARA, sharing with the TARA Boys his enthusiasm for the new responsibilities Muskaan gives him.

Soni also underwent a crucial surgery: she was suffering from a severe malformation in her left hand, due to a burn when she was a baby. After a one-week hospitalization and a surgery for which she showed a tremendous courage, Soni is now undergoing physiotherapy sessions and the emotion of TARA Girls and staff at the sight of her flexible fingers is palpable. We want to thank specifically Soni's surgery sponsors: the ENGIE Foundationand the Hospital Safdarjung Hospital.
Finally, the sense of hearing of our smart Big Bird, Sunil, was saved thanks to a Tympanomastoidectomy (say it without breathing!) kindly performed at Delhi ENT Hospital.

The month of October was also illuminated by candles, rangolis and firecrackers in response to the festivals celebrated in India at this time of the year. The festivities culminated for Diwali, enjoyed in a big party at TARA Girls with the French sponsors who visited us, while the Tots prefered a Mela during which they granted small crafted masterpieces to their guests. A huge thanks to L’Opéra, French Bakery in New Delhi – and especially to Nadia Bondini - who delighted our taste buds.

Enjoying this season of celebrations and its mild climate, His Excellency Alexandre Ziegler, Ambassador of France to India, invited TARA Children with his family for an afternoon filled with games, puppetry and magic shows. A garden party which will not be soon forgotten.
On 26th November, the children were present at the annual Mela of our partner Main Tendue, where they held their stand with serious and enthusiasm and became in turn Ambassadors of TARA for the day.

However, this entertainment does not divert the children from their studies, far from it! While the TARA Girls prepare presentations on different countries of the globe (Geography is not really the asset of the TARA Girls), the Boys work on violence against women around the world.

Boys and Girls will then present their research and share their views. Since a few months at TARA Boys and TARA Girls, the eldest also get ready for their future studies by attending Career Counselling sessions where speakers from different professional spheres present their jobs and answer the children’s question. A good reason to keep their feet firmly on the ground in the middle of the festivities!

But while the celebrations are coming to an end, two great news revive everyone’s excitement:

  • First, we are thrilled to announce that all the TARA Boys, the TARA Girls and two lucky TARA Tots will have the opportunity to participate in a winter camp in Rishikesh (Uttarakhand) for one week in January 2017Nous sommes d’abord très heureux de vous annoncer que tous les TARA Boys, les TARA Girls et deux chanceux TARA Tots auront l’opportunité de partir en camp de vacances à Rishikesh (Uttarakhand) pendant une semaine en janvier. They wait impatiently for this wonderful Christmas gift offered by Air France Foundation! As soon as they go back from the mountains, you will of course be able to find all the pictures of their adventures on our Facebook page.
  • Second, we inform you with great pleasure of the birth of TARA Training Center (or TTC, since it already has a nickname). Our dear Sweta, Project Manager at TARA Tots, is in charge of this project which will help us optimize the quality of our social workers’ training and allow us to spread TARA’s experience and expertise.
Four newcomers joined TARA during these last months, welcome to Khashish, 9 years old, in TARA Girls, Shariful, 4 years old in TARA Tots and to Soni’s sisters, Abida, 4 years old, in TARA Tots and Monica, 7 years old, in TARA Girls!
They chose their moment well; it is already time to prepare Christmas for the children of TARA… We invite you to take part in this event by visiting here our Christmas pot; don’t hesitate to make a solidarity gift to the children of TARA for Christmas holidays!
